.new home lockout.

.since moving in, there have been some big purchases we have been avoiding.
.washer/dryer.
.work desk for andrew.
.crib for parker.

.because we have been blessed with small, great gas milage, reliable cars.....these big items result in us renting a truck and driving around picking up these items.

.well because we had rented a truck just on saturday, we decided we would find what we needed, and big them up all together, so we wouldnt have to rent a truck again, and again, and again.

.tuesday i searched craigslist. i found a desk i was not fond of, but Andrew really liked. so i sent him the link and he really liked it, so i contacted the guy and asked if we could come check it out. we looked, we liked, we asked to come get it the next day. we also checked out washer and dryers. no many decisions. so i had one day to make a decision on a washer and dryer. i looked and looked and researched. as much as i LOVE the look of front loaders, they smell, they leak and the bearings go out like crazy.

.wednesday i rented the truck, rebooked flights for me and brooklynn and andrew so we all leave sunday evening from utah together (andrew was going to leave saturday mid afternoon and that really stunk. . . we are going to be apart for 2.5 weeks, thats a LONG time for me and for the kids to be away from daddy). anyways, i found a washer and dryer that was 3 months old. top loader. they needed to sale due to moving. great reviews...and who freaking cares what the washer and dryer looks like right? so i asked to come see that as well since we had the truck. i got the kids ready, grabbed cash, grabbed an extra change of clothes for andrew, diaper bag and out the door. i met andrew at the truck rental, and was the gps for him to our destinations.

.picked up the desk...and a computer chair. spoiled boy. (he is SUCH a bad person to bargain). and than i called to see if we could come check out the washer and dryer. she was JUST getting to the hospital to pick up her mil out of surgery so she said she would contact me when she was on her way home. so we grabbed the kids a bite to eat and talked, than we headed to the apartment to fill the truck with a few last boxes that we were planning on just throwing in the back of our cars whenever we were over there cleaning, swimming, or passing by. FINALLY around 7:30pm she called to say she would be there around 8.

.we checked them out, we felt good about them, we purchased them. her awesome husband help load them, little did he know that andrew was stuck unloading them with ME. we headed home.

.and than the fun began.

.while we were at the apartment, i realized the ONLY house key we had was not on my keychain like normal. when i mentioned that to andrew his first response was, "what? well, where is it?"

.my mind was racing, WHERE did i out the key last?...and than i remembered oh, so VERY clearly, in andrew's hand as he opened the garage door (we dont have garage door openers, so we have to go through the house with out ONLY key).

.me:"i gave them to you, when you offered to open the garage yesterday when we got home last night."

(insert deer in the headlights look on andrew's face...but of course he has to act MANLY)

.andrew: "well i put the key on the counter next to your keys, why didnt you grab the key before you left the house."

EXCUSE me. what did you just say to me? i needed to remember to put the key back on my keychain, as well as grab cash for YOUR desk, and after i rented the truck, and loaded up the kids, and had to also buckle the carseat back in my car you so kindly didnt put back last night, and instead left it next to my car to load up, since i have all the time in the world....oh.no.you.didnt.

.andrew:"you should of checked your keys before you left the house you only had one key to."

.i was irritated, but knew our adventure for the day was just going to get more adventurous and i was pretty giddy about it.

.so we drive up to the house around 9:15....we are locked out. and we had a few decisions to make. break a window, break a door, call a locksmith. we looked to see if we left any windows unlocked, we KNEW the answer to that, andrew is married to a paranoid wife who keeps all windows and doors locked at ALL times. . . the doors, okay, we have 2 doors (front and back) and they both are deadbolt. thats the only option, no lower lock, just deadbolt. . . so locksmith we call.

.$15 dollars JUST TO CALL a locksmith.

.he will be here in 20 minutes. so we pushed the kids in the swing at 9:45 at night waiting for him to pull up.

.up pulls a little sporty car and a teenager gets out.
.the locksmith.

.i was somewhat laughing inside. here is a grown man who cant get in his house because HE DIDNT PUT THE KEY BACK WHERE IT IS SUPPOSE TO GO...and at our door, with a few tools, unlocks our door in 2 minutes, and now we owe him $95 bucks.

.yep. $110 dollars to get into our house.

.i think andrew may have learned his lesson here.

.dont get in the way of a mama and her ways....there is a reason mama's are in charge of kids, appointments, bedtime, midde of the night time, dinner, lunches, bills, bullies, homework, etc.

.oh, and when we got in the house, the key wasnt even on the counter, like andrew said it was.

.it was in the pocket of his pants he wore the day before.

.yea, that mistake just cost ya $110 bucks babe.

.home moving weekend.

.phew.

.i can sit down and relax.

.so this was the big weekend, we moved into our home. we had been at the house every evening since we bought it on tuesday. thursday we were planning to shampoo the carpets, but i got food poisoning and was NOT feeling too hot. we had our internet/tv installed, except, our internet line that is suppose to be buried, somehow go unburied and chewed up (from people before us)....so it was a day of guys here fixing it, and another day of me having to be here with both kids for them to come on friday.

.friday came, i got here to they could set up our internet FOR REAL. andrew came here after work, and the guys was STILL here installing our internet and tv. so i left and rented the carpet cleaner and picked up dinner for us. when i got back, the guy was finally wrapping up. we ate, and starting shampooing carpets. . . okay, andrew did most of the work. i watched kids, and vacuumed and wiped down things. about 9:00 we had an encounter of brooklynns face and the tile floor. the carpet cleaner shoots water out behind it, and so it had got on the tile. i guess andrew had told me i needed to get brooklynn....but i didnt hear him, so b slipped and smashed her face into the tile. her mouth started to bleed immediately and andrew was FLIPPING. (whenever brooklynn gets hurt, andrew goes into crazy  mode). we were scared her teeth were chipped, but luckily not. phew!. it did bleed for about an hour after it happened, and it looked nasty. but she gladly ate some popsicles and luckily it stopped. we finally headed back to the apartment, and did some last minute packing while the kids slept, and headed to bed around 130am.

.saturday i was up at 7. we got out the door by 8. grabbed breakfast, picked up the rental truck, and dropped the kids off at my friends house. i was VERY hesitate to drop off parker because he is SUCH a mama's boy...but luckily he was the easiest one. (does not surprise me). andrew and i muscled everything. seriously everything. king mattresses, to heavy couches, it was insane. we packed up the truck and my car headed to the house, unpacked and did it all under 4 hours. how? i do not know. but we did it. we picked the kids up, dropped off the carpet cleaner and drove 1 hour north to pick up our guest bedroom set. the house we bought it from looked like it was from the movies. sooooo pretty. we headed back home, stopped at the apartment to load up my car with a few left over boxes and eat dinner there. i told andrew we needed some good bbq and so thats what we just did. i hear its good for san antonio, but for texas we need to head up to austin...one of these days :)

.we go back, unloaded the guest bedroom set, went to the store to pick up a few things and 9volt batteries for our smoke detectors that were going off every 2 minutes...dropped off the truck, got home, FORGOT to pick up the 9v batteries, headed back to the store, got them, came to the house...started to take the crib up to brooklynn's room and realized it wouldnt fit through the door without being disassembled. i finally said. SCREW IT we are having a sleepover in the family room. so we put the crib, pack and play and the guest mattress on the floor in the family room and all of us slept there. by the time we did that, showered and grabbed a late night snack, andrew and i went to bed around 130 again.

.sunday- we had all intentions to go to church...but just didnt make it. we both had NO desire to be social, and just wanted to be in sweats all day. we were beat. so we didnt go. and instead of relaxing we got everything but 4 boxes unpacked (2 of them is decor)...i say that is PRETTY good.

.and now, here i am, SITTING down, but about to head out to meet andrew to pick up washer and dryers. such a LONG weekend, but totally worth it. i was going to post a video of the house...but dont know if you want to see it now....or as time passes and years pass and we get projects done...whats your vote? now or after projects get done?

.brooklynn's number TWO birthday.

.wow.

.did i really just type that. brooklynn is TWO...wow.

.well about a month or so ago, i had Brooklynn's party figured out. the game plan was to go to seaworld, let brooklynn get pictures with elmo, hit up the waterpark (brooklynn's FAVORITE thing ever.) .....and than i saw the forecast....

.rain.
.with thunderstorms.

.great.

.i waited it out, until wednesday when i felt like i was living in washington. rain, rain and more rain. my poor kids hadnt been outside ALL week.

.so thursday i made a game plan two.

.invited 7 of brooklynn's little friends from church to this indoor playground.

.so friday i went grocery shopping. loading the cart with food for the family meals for the next week, frosting for brooklynn's cupcakes and cake, little treats for the kid's "gift boxes," and cake mixes.

.i got home and started baking, with kids wrapped around my ankles and tripping every 5 steps. i managed to make the cupcakes, and cake brooklynn's cake. than i made dinner (thank goodness i just had to grill it). We played with the kids, bathed them, cleaned up, and attempted to put them to bed. they both hadn't taken a nap all day, however, seemed to have the energy as if they had just woke up from snow white's nap. it was insane. about 2 hours later they FINALLY feel asleep, parker still waking up about 3 times.

.we got to work. putting together the kitchen that gma/gpa westensee bought her. it was a lot of fun putting it together with andrew. . . but it took 3 hours. there was like 7-8 pages of instructions. lol. but we did it, and enjoyed our friday night date night doing it. we ended up going to bed at 1:30am

.8 o clock rolls around and i am getting up to get myself showered and ready for the day. than we woke up the kids, got them dressed, packed the car, and headed to brooklynn's birthday. we stopped at mcdonalds (one of brooklynn's favorite places) and got breakfast for $4 for all of us. (we had coupons).

.we arrived at the playground area. there were a lot more kids than usual at 10:15am...but not a horrible amount. the lady asks how many and i said, one and than five others (2 couldnt make it)....that will be $47 dollars. i about peed my pants right there. excuse me? 47 dollars. 9 for the first child, and 7 for every child after that. agh. i misheard her when i called 2 days earlier. oh well, i guess it wasnt 147 dollars. we moved on and enjoyed ourselves.

.the kids had a blast. only 1 family had been there before, and the families that hadn't absolutely loved it. the kids ran around, climbed up ladders, stairs, rock walls, went down slides, bounced in the bounce house, shot baskets at the basketball courts. they LOVED it. than we had a small "birthday celebration." i attempted to make elmo cupcakes. they looked like they were ready to scare the kids....but the kids enjoyed them. poor parents, was not thinking when i use RED frosting. ops! everyone sang happy birthday to brooklynn, and we attempted to get a family picture. just as our friend debbie hit the button, brooklynn reached up and smacked parker. awesome. NAP TIME anyone?

.we headed home and again, attempted to put the kids down for a nap. again, they fought it for 2 hours. FINALLY they fell asleep and so did andrew. he was OUT. which was good, because we was getting grumpy. they all slept until 3:30 and i woke up andrew and said, lets go.

.we had a groupon for a 20 dollar gift card to red robin for $10bucks. so we decided to go there for dinner. surprisingly the kids were REALLY good. b sat there and colored for the first 15 minutes. than she sat and ate and shared her food with parker. we were both in shock. but it was nice to be able to watch the kids, and have fun with them, and be able to have a conversation with one another without the kids screaming and making you want to hide in a corner from everyone looking.

.THAN we headed to the park. my parents got brooklynn this awesome bubble maker for her birthday, that is suppose to spit out a gazillion bubbles...well it does. and the kids LOVED it. we laid out a blanket, sat and watched the kids and ran around with them. it was so much fun, and we cannot wait to let that thing create bubbles in our backyard!

.THAN we headed to baskin robbins. b had a free birthday scoop for her birthday, so i took her in and let her choose her own ice cream cone. we let her eat it in her carseat and boy did she make a mess. thank goodness for washing machines. we ended up bringing both kids in the apartment in their carseats straight to the bathroom. stripped them down and put them in the tub, and than stripped down their carseats and i washed them up.

.so finally it's around 7:30 (kids usually go to bed around 8) but they are wired. they are bathed, and in p.j's, their clothes are set out for church, and diaper bag packed...and we FINALLY give brooklynn her presents. her aunt heather and cousin lily sent a dora night light and makeup. i may never forgive heather for giving her makeup when we are about to move into a new house. but b LOVES it and so we do too. brooklynn also got stickers, twist up crayons, a notepad, a big jug of bubbles, shopping cart, food, and a new kitchen. we facetimed andrew's parents when she opened the kitchen and they watched her play and play. finally at 9 they went to bed. we were so tired. but overall it was a GREAT day. we enjoyed every minute of it, and especially being with family.

.happy birthday brooklynn. we cant wait to see you learn and grow and become even more fun and beautiful in the years to come :)

WARNING: video overload.
.b opening presents from heather, tyler and evan.

.b opens elmo.

.b opens kitchen.
(so i have to explain the kitchen. we locked b in the bathroom while we moved the kitchen from our closet to the front room. . . and we gave her the forks, knife, plates etc set in the bathroom....dont think we are weird and that is where we open our presents. lol)
.b and the bubble maker.

.warning. PICTURE OVERLOAD.

b's invite i threw together real quick.
 .elmo cupcakes.
.DONT laugh.
 .love this picture of parker.

 .seriously, this is AWESOME.

 .all smiles.

.running free, like there are no troubles in the world.

.see why i had to wash her carseat out?
.kids and the 100 pieces of play food.
.what a LOOOOONNNNNGGGG fun day. parker is drinking his bottle, and brooklynn is rubbing his head. adorable.
