.after being at my parents house for 2.5 weeks, my mom still agreed to come to texas for a week. when it came time to drop her off, i did NOT want to, and neither did brooklynn.
.we had a blast when my mom was here, okay, well sorta.
.so my poor hubby called me about a week before we were suppose to come home and told me our ac was out. that poor boy dealt with 90+ heat INSIDE our house, not including how hot it was outside. poor guy. he finally got someone to come out, and worked from home on friday (we were coming in tuesday). the ac guy said it was a certain part and blah blah blah it would be fixed at earliest wednesday, but possibly not until thursday or friday. i about died. of course it was HOT those day and my mom and i just ran errands to enjoy air conditioning and stick around for the ac guy to come.
.long story short when i called to see where we were with the part and getting it installed, it sounded as if they hadnt even tried yet. i was MAD. i texted my awesome real estate agent and she contacted me and said she talk to "amanda" and amanda" was high up in the company we were doing all this through...and she was mad. so she ordered for it to be done ASAP or we were to be put up in a hotel that evening. well, guess who booked a hotel? she said we had up to $200 towards a room and guess who booked a NICE embassy suite hotel? me.
.anyways. next day day ac guy comes, we feel cold air, and so the following day (friday) mom and i decided since we didnt have to wait around for anyone, we were going to take the kids to seaworld, especially since mom has never been there. so off we went to a few shows and came home to meet andrew. when i walked through the door andrew gave me the look like your going to be mad....ac out again. for real people?? we live in texas, you would think you know how to fix something that you do ALL THE TIME here in texas.
.so we had a hot weekend, we went to seaworld again, and mom watched the kids while andrew and i went on a date. it was SO much fun. we just got smoothies at mcdonalds (we had a buy1get1) and than went to dicks sporting goods to look at scout stuff for his campout. we ended up looking at baseball stuff when i said, "lets go to the batting cages" next thing i know, we are looking up places and headed to the batting cages. oh.my.word. SO fun. i have never played softball or baseball before (pe does not count in my book) and so it was quite a sight. but we had tons of fun. we hit a total of 208 balls. 104 a piece. andrew hit all the way up to 70 mph and so did i...however i made "contact with 2/16, and when i say contact, i meant a knick. lol.
.the remainder of the week mom and i went shopping, ran errands went down to the alamo and the riverwalk, laughed, laughed some more, joked, and spent time with the kids. monday night andrew watched the kids and mom and i headed to seaworld for 3-4 hours. we went on roller coasters (my mom HATES roller coasters) and came home feeling sick. it was so much fun. my mom watched the kids the last night and andrew and i went to seaworld and did more rollercoaster rides, and rides that soak you (mom and i tried, but it was closed) and than went to dinner at YUM Thai. it was delicious. i LOVE thai food.
.when it came time to drop mom off, mom said, "now, we arent going to talk about it because than i will loose it. its hard because i know the next time we see each other is a LONG time" brooklynn cried the whole way home after dropping off grandma. she would repeatedly say, "me airplane grandma too?" it was adorable. i did get teary eyed when we had to drive away. my mom rocks and i sure am thankful for her spending so much time with us.
.my mom is amazing. she seems to always be there for us. i am so thankful i can call her mom, and my kids can call her grandma. it seems we have grown even closer since i got married and had kids. we talk AT LEAST once a week, if not more. she is such an example to me. one of these days we dont live 33 hours away from each other.
.thanks mom. we love you. and cant wait to see you again.
